Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, ISTD, is an organisation for dance teachers of many styles in dancing, from Cecchetti Classical Ballet to Tap, Ballroom and Khatak, to name just a few. The ISTD was founded in 1920 in London and has spread its wings over many countries across the world. It is a government accredited body for teachers wishing to embark on teacher qualifications from Diploma in Dance Education (DDE) right up to Fellowship and the new MA in Professional Practice: Dance Technique Pedagogy.
The ISTD is also the awarding body for exams and awards for children and adults and offer exams for all levels from Class Examinations; Pre-Primary and Standards (for the leisure child), Grades (2+ classes a week), vocational graded examinations all the way up to Advanced 2 and the Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma.
Foundation for Community Dance
Foundation for Community Dance is a leader and organiser of dance in the community for the community nationally. They promote appropriate teacher conduct, organises courses and events throughout the year and enable people of all levels and abilities to come together to encourage dance to be explored by wider communities of people. Foundation for Community Dance also makes sure that member teachers are up to date with current legislation, Health and Safety and given tools and thorough information to teach in today’s modern society.
